Best of Dublin 1 [27/02 - 29/02]
As the teachers are on strike on this day, we decided to extend our Dublin trip by another day and depart from Belfast on the Friday morning instead. We arrived to Dublin by bus. The first stop for the day is Collins Barracks and the National Museum of Ireland.
From the barracks, we walked northwards past the Liffey towards the Guinness Storehouse and Old Jameson Distillery. It showcase the brewing process of Guinness.
The entrance to the Guinness Brewery cost 9 Euros which is inclusive of a pint of Guinness. Notice the shamrock shape at the top of each pint.
Here we are enjoying our Guinness while overlooking Dublin city.
28th February (Saturday)
A Saturday morning walking past the Liffey River, the main river that runs through Dublin.
There is a weekend market on today so we decide to check it out.
There are lots of local produces.
One of the stores was selling Oyster and it was just too hard for us to resist.
Here we are enjoying our meal.
Next stop for the day is Christ church. It is the most famous church in Dublin.
Here is how the interior of the church looks like.
We walked past the main shopping street - Grafton Street and down to Trinity College, the main university of Dublin city.
The campus feel is really great.
The university houses a very important literature - The Book of Kells. Here is the College Library.
Night falls to Dublin with the Liffey coming alive.
We went to one of the pubs at Temple Bar to soak in the atmosphere. It has live Irish music, good food and drinks.
Here we are back in our hostel. It cost around 20Euros a night.
29th February (Sunday)
This day we decide to check out the largest cathedral in the area, the St. Patricks Cathedral.
Walking past the main shopping street, we have the scultpure of Molly Malone.
Si Yu is looking forward to visit the Oscar Wilde memorial. I have not heard of Oscar Wilde previously, but from this trip, I have learnt to appreciate his great literary talent.
