Best of Liverpool [23/04 - 24/04]

E23rd April (Friday)

We arrived at Liverpool's John Lennon airport at 5.10pm via Easyjet. From there we took a bus to our hostel, Embassie Hostel. The host gave us a pleasant introduction of Liverpool and the possible places we can have our meals and sights to visit.

The Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is within walking distance from our hostel. So that is our first stop for the day. It is really huge.

A short walk further west brings us to Liverpool chinatown. This is the oldest chinatown in the whole of Europe. It seems very quiet now though...

We went on to the University of Liverpool which is also around the area. And have our dinner at one of the student hangouts there. Thereafter we walked back to our hostel.

24th April (Saturday)

We took a 20 minutes walk to Albert Dock this morning. We laze by the dock and just enjoy the view from there. There are several shops in the area so it is also souvenir buying time.

The Beatles Story is also round the area so we just checked it out. Here is the Yellow Submarine, one of the songs sang by the Beatles.

We went to check out the main Liverpool city and also the Walker Gallery round the area. Liverpool is more notable for its football team, so visiting the Liverpool stadium is something important in our plan. From a supposedly 15mins walk, it turned out to be a 1 hour journey.

There is a match against Manchester United when we were there, but it is playing in Manchester turf, so the big screen TV show the match live in the club.

We took a bus back to Mathew Street where Cavern Pub is. Many stars have performed in this club before and the most notable of which is the Beatles. Here is statue of one of the members of the Beatles.

We had dinner again at Liverpool university and get ready to leave the hostel in the evening. Our flight from Liverpool to Belfast is at 9.30am the next day, so we decided to hole up in the airport. Here we are waiting for the bus to bring us back to the airport. This also marks the end of our Easter 3 weeks plus long vacation.
